What if we could bring together people with dementia from various parts of the world, each with their unique life experiences, to walk 40 km along a famous pilgrimage route?

What if this could help educate other people affected and inspired by dementia to think differently, challenge stigma, and design future steps in a more inclusive way?

And what if we could create a platform for knowledge exchange across various domains from science to art, and spark impactful collaborations?

Walking the Talk for Dementia - WTD

This convening is like nothing you've ever experienced before. We're all about breaking down walls, shaking things up, and paving the way for change makers and innovators to develop new solutions inspired by real-life stories.

WTD is an immersive experience that challenges conventional power dynamics and hierarchies in healthcare by using shared vulnerability as a catalyst for transformation. It's a four day walk on the Camino de Santiago de Compostela to deepen connections, followed by a two day symposium to consolidate reflections and collaborations.

"Someone once told me that a diagnosis can be life-changing, not life-ending. We need to showcase people living despite a diagnosis and emphasize the potential of their voices and experiences in shaping our perception of dementia. My grandmother's Alzheimer's was not the end, and today I know that incredible adventures are still possible, all it takes is providing the right tools to make life more significant than the diagnosis. My grandma lived with Alzheimer's for 6 years, and she could tell us exactly what it was like to walk in her shoes. We want these stories to be told, voices to be heard, and the future of dementia to be stigma-free."
